Dude, just buy a digital one. It's not worth learning how to manufacture film.

(That said, I've just decided on one for myself after a deep-dive, so I'm happy to make recommendations if you want.)

Let me know what parameters you have in mind, particularly regarding price, usage conditions, portability, subjects, and video intentions.

* price: lower is better. This is not a new hobby, but utilitarian * usage conditions: fair weather outdoors, also indoors. No need for low-light - I will shoot when the light is good / rig up shop lights + diffusers * portability: no; in house + barn * subjects: tools + food

* video: no need typical shots: * pile of pumpkins * close up of a tractor part * picture of a pig * picture of a tomato plant etc

What are you wanting in a device labeled "camera" that you do not get in one labeled "phone"?

My phone is wired into the wall and has 12 buttons on it. So, for one thing: a camera lens and an ability to take pictures.
