Open-plan offices have been found to reduce productivity and impair memory. They’re associated with high staff turnover. They make people sick, hostile, unmotivated, and insecure. Open-plan workers are more likely to argue more with their colleagues. pic.twitter.com/fkz2g87iuu

I hate my full height cube. No natural light & I feel like I work in a cave, all alone. I like half height, bull-pens so I can work with my team without a physical barrier. I get not everyone like it, and there's a million designs that can allow for various configurations.

I don't like FULLY open like that pic, however. There's no sense of 'personal space'. I've been in many places that do much better than that without making you feel naked.

I’m with you. Even the semblance of smaller space with a few people is better than solitary super cube or massive floor ( like the pic ).

I had a job in 2008 with a large private office, with no windows. I hated it. Didn’t even know if it started snowing or not. Mostly working at home last several years looking out window isn’t always ideal, but the window rocks

Oddly, I'm an introvert, but I detest working at home. I don't want to interact with people too much, but when I do, I need it.

I can also work well around people I’m not expected to interact with. So I’ll frequent the cool lobby of a hotel I like that has free WiFi and a big working desk

I spent a few years literally working in a storage closet. It was a large room, mostly empty, with one wall filled with filing cabinets. TPTB declared I needed a private, lockable space (because, you know, infosec) so that became my "office".
