the idea of similar-shaped-but different ammo, similar mags w different ammo, etc. freaks me out 4th rule of gun safety: set up systems so that it is VERY VERY VERY hard to blow up your rifle with the wrong ammo
I've read that .410 ammo will slide all the way into the chamber of a 12 gauge, and then you can - with work - force a 12 gauge round in behind O_O
