I don't want public school teachers to talk about their same sex lovers. I don't want public school teachers to talk about their savior, Jesus. I don't want public school teachers to talk about their child in the Marines killing jihadis or in the Peace Corp. Teach the subject. https://twitter.com/popelizbet/status/979433520375435264 …

2/ I actively support a teacher getting fired for talking about her sexual orientation. I also actively support a teacher getting fired for talking about Jesus. Public schools are monopolies, which we are forced - at gun point - to pay for. Let's keep them ideology free.

Having a wife you don't treat as a secret is not talking about your sexual orientation.

It's not that I think spouses, Jesus, Allah, The Marine Corp, or the Peace Corp are secrets. It's that teachers don't get paid to talk about it, and they should stay on topic, especially re topics that some consider sensitive. >>>

I can see where "my family" is on topic in elementary art class: I brought home a bunch of "my family" pictures, family trees, etc around that age. But if you're willing for all teachers to act like they don't have spouses, that's one way to be fair, even if I think it's a lot.

When students have feelings about their academic classes I see a lot of lol snowflake and when parents want to make a big deal over "my child was near a gay person at school" I see a lot of the opposite. Just in general.

If someone was pitching a fit because they thought their kid's art teacher was reifying patriarchy by talking about her husband existing I would think that person was being ridiculous also.
