Never understood why some people on here are (something)hat tbh Why is anybody anything-hat, how did it start, does it mean something, is it a cult? Kinda afraid to know but had to ask

I mean, I mostly remember Popehat (the blogger). I think he's still around? Then there was a Clarkhat or something (confusing but ok). Then other-hats. Now there seems to be lots of Clarkhat..copycats? tributes? I don't get it at ALL Is there a explainer somewhere?

It's just like you said. There's Popehat, and he's still around. Then there was Clarkhat (but he's gone). And now there's lots of Clarkhat copycats or tributes. Pretty simple, really.

but who (and why) was there a ClarkHat? is (was?) he the same person as PopeHat? or at least, connected to Popehat? and then, why the copycats? *boggle*

it's as if Steven den Beste spawned a "Clark den Beste" and then Clark den Beste got banned, but there were a buncha other ppl tweeting as "Clark den Beste's chauffeur" and whatnot i'd be puzzled by that too

Popehat is half a dozen people, led by Ken White and (to a lesser degree) Patrick. Clarkhat was one of them. Shared the blog, but had a separate twitter. Then he had a falling out and left the blog, but kept tweeting. Then twitter banned him for being too spicy.

What was the "final straw" tweet? Was it his answer to "...ever said?"
