Over the next week or two I'm going to write a short story in the Aristillus universe, set a few years before the events of The Powers of the Earth. Gold prospecting! Claim jumping! Kidnpapping! Private registries of deeds! Spacesuits! Using a lathe, and maybe hand files!

11/ Punched out for the day. Another hour or two will finish the story, and it's going to clock in at 8,000 words or so (24 pages). If you like my novels, you'll like this. It's got several different "procedural" elements: corporate (land registries), surveying, metal working
