do you know about "span of control" in management theory? The more routine the task, the more people a manager can manage. The more creative, the fewer. Often around 7, outside of manufacturing (very routine). Thus you see firms are fractal, with each manager managing ~7

At 4-7 you don't even need to say "guys, this is off the record". That's UNDERSTOOD. At ^2, you have to say it, but it will be respected. At ^3, you can't even ask.
