Like asking the demigods to intercede with Zeus or the Roman household gods to intercede with Jupiter? :) No, I get that *you* have a theological justification for why it's still monotheism. It's just not persuasive to us.

To us, it does. If you direct prayers to them, it certainly remotely implicates mono vs. poly. Some entity other than God can hear prayers and take action based on them. We direct prayers to God, period. Not angels, not saints, no other entity at all.

old testament acknowledges existence of multiple supernatural entities: God, angels, fallen angels so acknowledging that there are entities other than those alive today does not imply that one considers them all to be gods
