There's a steelmanned version of that question that isn't completely repugnant, something like "is there a submissive-authoritarian component driving some apparent political contradictions on the left", but also he's an asshole.

TBH I don't think this is exactly true. Socially important falsehoods are often protected by constructed sacredness. People willing to transgress them are almost by definition assholes, ie people willing to give offense.

Assholes and other authoritarians are not *trustworthy* and their positive programs are generally garbage, but they can be useful when they attack other, more hegemonic, authoritarians.
