Got it from a specialty shop and paid waaaay more than the going price at Home Depot et al. But. The lights are strung such that a bulb failure only darkens the failed bulb and not the entire string. You've never SEEN me whip out my credit card so fast. /f

Also - this device was very helpful in troubleshooting and fixing light strings on several occasions. Eventually the strings got beyond any help, but until then it worked as advertised. http://a.co/877sUMY
