I think the limiting factor is how quickly the saturated soil can move water 5 feet horizontally over to the buried gravel and pipe.

The area to the right of the fence is nicely dry now. In the past, it'd be under 2-3" of water.

...but the elevations didn't quite work out. Land is a bit more saddle shaped than I'd realized. Might increase pond size / depth some day
