      Another good one. What would be the output? int x = 0; printf("%d %d\n", ++x, ++x);

      Functions like printf do not pass variable changes outside of their scope.

      You want me to explain function scope and localized assignment of variables in a series of tweets, that's cruel.

      Not sure a url exists for this case, checking all the same. If not I will do my best to explain.

      The shortest and most prone to flaws explanation is that you are passing x into printf twice, but each one is treated as a single local.

      it's pass-by-value, right? so the bytes that make up 'x' are copied onto the call stack, yes?

          The value portion yes, in a sense x is passed once, becoming a. The second time it is passed, it becomes b. Each treated individually.

          I just use the rule I was taught decades ago when it comes to c variables. "What happens local, stays local"
