a jet engine is NOTHING BUT a supercharger. First stage: compressor. Second stage: almost nothing (flame holder). Third stage: exhaust turbo

you need flame holder to give the flame front respite from the full-on airflow; without a hiding spot, gets blown out like birthday candle
