Health insurance isn't about health. We ("we") treat everyone, rich and poor. No one is turned away. Everyone lives, if we can save them.

Health insurance is about financial stability. It's a financial product, same as your 401K, same as your mortgage.

If you're wise enough to buy health insurance, then when you get cancer, you get to keep your house. If not, you don't.

Same with dementia. Except your health insurance doesn't cover that. If you wanted to keep your house you needed to buy a DIFFERENT product.

There's a gazillion kinds of insurance. Your cell phone extended warranty is insurance, and it's crap; don't buy it again.

Long term care insurance is different. If you have assets and care about your legacy, you probably should buy LTC. No one talks about this.
