4/ you can also teach yourself to grind drill bits by hand on a grinding wheel. I can, and do a decent job.

9/ you can, in a technical sense, sharpen the bit 2" further back...but it won't hold the edge at all. So don't bother.

11/ flutes are a certain helical angle, body center ground, thickness of web changing over length... so easy to make a trashy drill bit.

15/ Get a rod / broken drill bit / whatever. Heat one end. Hammer that end so it's kinda spoon shaped. Dip in water. YOU CAN DRILL W THIS!
