but sometimes the body just can't grow as fast as you want. So I know my temptation is to degenerate into bad form >

which means I ALWAYS end up throwing out my back if I try to long running program of 20 rep squats, or whatever.

so the 0-weight squats are PERFECT, and then I add in 5x5 of other stuff, which also works for me.
