2/ a circular saw with a diamond blade (under 3" of water - basement had already flooded!) to score, then used cold chisel & hammer to break

3/ Holy crap, I'd forgotten that story. So, basement flooded 5" deep. Buy sump pump, but it requires 6" of standing water. Solution:

4/ put garbage can on floor, put pump in can, cobble together PVC out window, put shop vac on bench, put hose on floor, pile w bricks >

5/ run shop vac til full, turn off, open drain (into garbage can). Sump turns on, empties garbage can, then turns off. Close shop vac drain
