I always decompose things into the basis vector. At least in Ruby there's no such thing as "named arguments".
HOWEVER...
@0xjared you're benefitting from some magic: if ∃
f( my_hash)
you can call it as f( { :a => 1, :b=>2 })
but magic allows
f(:a=>1, :b=>2)
