Teacher referenced Jorges Luis Borge as a fantasy author to read and emulate. He died in 1986. Fantasy moved on. -_-

I have no problem with reading more fantasy, especially if it's good, but fantasy as a genre evolves. Also, different culture.

I think the center of gravity of a genre moves, and borders grow (but don't shrink). Calling back to old masters is OK.
