1. This renovation is both good and horrible, IMHO. I'd like to specifically call out the good, the bad, and the ugly. Let's start with the bad, because the general opinion of my frens is this is horrible.https://twitter.com/hradzka/status/1504891265598459905 …

2. The new windows suck. They don't match the lines of the house. Painting the brick was unnecessary. Leave the brickwork alone. If the windows were crappy from an insulation POV, then replace with similar windows. Also, looks like there's a 2 story stripper pole in the new.pic.twitter.com/juPyAddFlp

3. This patio/deck/whatever was not improved by the paintjob. It took character and rendered it sterile. Again, don't paint the brick. All the old one needed is fresh paint and/or pressure wash in similar colors.pic.twitter.com/GPPuXT67lQ

4. The old fireplace had to go. But the new one is not an improvement. Too trendy. And those look like potentially original wood floors that could have just been refinished. That being said, the new windows look ok here. New beam colors, wall paint, and molding all look good.pic.twitter.com/XFvJjgBG0a

5. Let's get to the parts where the renovation was good. The kitchen. Yeah, it's a little too trendy/modern for my personal taste, but it's a huge improvement aesthetically and functionally over the old one. Opening it up was a good idea too.pic.twitter.com/HvP4RU3WJm

6. Continuing with the kitchen, yes this little breakfast nook had a little charm, but exposed wiring, crappy flooring, and closed off nature made this worthy of tearing down and replacing with an open concept. Side note: I want the range/oven combo in the new.pic.twitter.com/yxaNlNElKK

7. I'm not sure these are the same bathrooms. But again, let's be honest, the pink and green shit had to go. The new is way better, but I think it didn't have to be so sterile. A different wall tile and less white in the walls could have been better still.pic.twitter.com/QWKfKJ4pzO

8. The ugly. My readers may be pissed at this one. Not sure if this is one for one (don't have the layout for the house, maybe
@hradzka knows). But stylistically... Look, I love old timey bookshelves, but most people aren't gonna go for this.pic.twitter.com/pB4qZAHthB

Replying to @VarangianSkull @hradzka
yeah, especially the bookshelves hanging over the doors and windows, those're an abomination

also, there's a discontinuity between the left shelves and the right - if the right ones went to the same height, it'd be much more unified / not look as bad
