Have you volunteered to go fight the Russians in Ukraine, @Gatoraid20 ?
If not, maybe stop trying to spend other people's dollars and lives in something you don't apparently care THAT much about.

28/ > Would you have not intervened in WW2 to stop the Holocaust? First, the US did not intervene in WW2 to stop the Holocaust. Second, the Nazis, while absolutely terrible, did not architect the Holocaust qua the Holocaust until after US blockades, etc. Without US >>>

29/ involvement it is plausible that the antisemitic and murderous Nazis would have done something else like the original plan to relocate populations to Madagascar. Retconning WWII into "US intervened to stop the Holocaust" is lazy and propogandistic. Actual rhetoric >>>

32/ no, I entirely get that it's a bad thing. I'm just saying that it's also a COMPLICATED thing, where the US foreign policy establishment worked hard, over a decade, to push Putin into a lose/lose horns-of-a-dilemma where if he does nothing >>>https://twitter.com/derail33462704/status/1504456207192498184 …

derail @derail33462704Replying to @MorlockPIt's probably hard to imagine as an American. I think this is my main point of divergence from your stance on this. The crux: Why is "Ukraine slides into the NATO/EU/American orbit" a "lose" for Putin? What *legitimate* interest does Putin have in Ukraine's relationship or lack thereof with those nations?

Srs question: did the US have a "legitimate" interest in Cuba not falling into USSR orbit / in not having weapons placed there?

I don't know enough of the particulars. If no rights of Americans were threatened, no they did not. If on the other hand there was reason to believe Cuba would engage in violent expansion/prevent defensive retaliation with those weapons...

also, we get back to the fact that I'm an anarchist. I don't want a gov to exist in Russia OR Ukraine. So you're asking me to put myself in the shoes of someone I disagree with, and then evaluate "justified" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's a much shorter thread to say "The Russian government is horrible, and so is the Ukrainian, and so is the American, because they're governments and they're active here"
But yeah, this is a more fundamental point of divergence.0 replies 0 retweets 1 likeThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
