My dad told me they tried this in the 70s and it lasted one year once people realized kids were waiting for school buses in the dark all winter.https://twitter.com/igorbobic/status/1503830100357402628 …

I don't follow ... Rubio specifically says "change the school start time". So you saying "we tried this" sounds like ... it's not true?

Tried "doing away with the time shift and staying on savings time." I think the chances of schools moving their start times to accommodate this is very low.

No school in the OKC/Moore district starts at the same time. They have staggered starts I guess for busing and to help with parental pick up? some start at 7ish and end at 2 ish, I think some go until four. Can't imagine have to keep track of all that

Yeah, we have 3 runs. K-5, 6-8, 9-12. Pretty sure the buses pass the house at 7:30, 8:30, and 6:30 respectively

Anyway, my real hill that I'll die on is we should do away with time zones and all use GMT. It would be weird for like a month and then it would be great.
