Back in the day I volunteered a LOT with my church to provide labor or food to needy individuals or families. Mowing the lawn for a shut-in senior citizen was rewarding. But occasionally I'd step into a house and think "hold the phone, this place is nicer than where *I* live."

And no, this was not a realization that I was actually poor white trash or something. More like the slow realization that some people out there feel entitled to both luxuries AND necessities but can only *afford* one or the other... and choose luxuries.
