If you learn Spanish and Latin they include Italian for free.

A confrère who is much more fluent in Spanish than I am went to Italy and just spoke Spanish to everyone. The Northern Italians assumed he learned Italian from Southern Italians and vice versa.

Besides the fact that Spanish has grammar in the sentence structure and Latin achieves it all via conjugations, they're pretty close

Yeah, the Latinate languages are so easy to read/understand (not speak) once you know Latin. Latin is just the ur language for them in such a fundamental way it’s amazing we don’t still make kids learn it.

The grammar is federal PMITA prison versus Club Fed.

Though Latin grammar gave me a leg up on Russian and even more on Polish. And thankfully neither had more than a couple of different sets of noun endings for the three genders. I remember getting to the 5th ablative case in Latin and just giving up.
