Increasingly the ones who do go in end up on the easier path of talking about how hard it is to be a woman in STEM instead of doing STEM work.

Per usual, it's virtual signaling their lack of misogyny while actually supporting the soft misogyny that women can't measure up to men so they need special woman-standards.

That said, as a high IQ girl with a scientist dad, the relentless "get more women into STEM!" that was dumped on me all my life... ...made me not go into STEM

throwback to the girl replying to a "what the worst problem in your profession post" "im in physics, and it may be hard to believe, but our worst problem is sexism and racism" If someone said that irl I wouldnt know how to react "rationally"; its all just cope by bad people

I hate the way "women in STEM" crowd bully women. In college, I knew a lady who was thinking of switching from chemE to statistics cause she found chemE challenging and loved her stats class. WiS bullied her into staying. She got an adderall script to deal with the workload.

Me: "You should get into tech." Daughter: "I want to get into tech." *3 years later* Daughter: "I want to care for people. I want to be a nurse." *evil patriarchy strikes again*pic.twitter.com/CT61J60nja

My company pursues a 50/50 intake for junior devs. If you try and do that with massively different sized intake pool, you end up with far, far stronger competition among male applicants. We all pretend not to notice when there's performance gap (on average) between our hires.
