I'd cons one more item onto this list: compulsory government schooling vs. schooling. My grade point average in college was a whole grade point (B- to A/A-) higher in college vs. high school. I wanted to be there I chose my major, my classes, my professors, etc... did much better

lived off campus to avoid forced socialization. (when a family friend suggested that my parents send me to a jewish summer camp -- you know who else did that, right? - in order to make me more social i told her "try it and i'll get myself kicked out the first day." fuck force.
