often things start so small that we don't need due process we did not need due process against Yahoo in 1997 ... but perhaps we DO against Google deplatforming in 2022. Likewise, it's not clear that we needed due process for bank deplatforming in 1955 ... but no we do maybe?

Good answers. In general I'm content to leave "international responses" more-or-less to the discretion of the current political leaders, more-or-less by analogy to warfare.

I have the same intuition, I think; What's happening is horrible, but this is not The Way. It sets off mental alarms I picked up after 9/11- it was very, very clear something horrible had happened... but I don't think we handled it well.

It's kind of like... texting your ex while drunk. Sometimes texting your ex is a good idea, but this is recognizably not the headspace where good decisions *tend* to happen, so it's worth it to try to stop and sober up, even if you end up making the same decision after you do.
