Those damn farmers spending their hours growing food instead of keeping their farms picturesque and "company ready" for those driving by.https://twitter.com/ewahlwriting/status/1496166684847132673 …

You have to wonder what her perspective of “trash” is, too. My father in law has a long carport filled with old IH tractors. They’re a source of spare parts, etc, so he doesn’t have to machine new pieces if something breaks. Average person might call it junk but it’s not.
-
Happy to clear up this misconception. I completely understand keeping old machinery in order to utilize the parts. At my last place I collected old fencing & scrap lumber for future chicken coops! I just think it’s best to contain it to an area or make the piles tidy.

Read a Piers Anthony bit once, probably around the finale of Incarnations of Immortality. He mentioned that his yard was cultivated wild, no tidy lawn, but exactly what he wanted. Peeps who came by sometimes wondered about the apparent unkemptness, but it was his plan.

Cultivated wild is beautiful to me because of the plant diversity and thriving pollinators! Good for soil health. Who wants a boring, manicured lawn wasting water?

Not sure how I give off tourist vibes. More like beginner. I’ve gotten as far as a large garden and chickens. I can’t grow everything I want to yet, so I buy food from local farmers. I visit farms to know what I’m feeding my family and support people with the same values.
