It does seem that for some, there's frequently an attachment to a particular process or aesthetic. Certain people would rather not get what they claim to want if they have to get it by some less preferred process. Different from the SCF, not sure what it is.

Not sure if it's a fallacy per se... I think it's an impedance mismatch between the stated goal and the implicit goal (which incorporates the aesthetics).
