With that type of carry handle the rear sight aperture is in the carry handle. Mounting where it is in the picture allows for a co-witness set up where you can use the holo sight and/or the iron sights with the same head/body positioning in case of optics failure.

That way you don’t have to remove the optic if it fails.

With a fixed carry handle it’s one of the places; a goose neck is the only way to keep it low to the bore/cowitness it with the irons Operator/unit preference kind of thing
