I've gotten used to signing medical forms for my dad... he could sign them, but it was often more convenient for me to do it. But I kid you not I had to sign a HIPAA release form on his behalf AFTER he had died

to their credit, the hospital staff were as helpful and sympathetic and respectful as possible, I don't fault them at all and I understand why it was necessary but boy oh boy did the system ever show some black humor right then

This afternoon I went to the rehab facility dad was staying at when he died, to pick up his belongings. While there the staff asked me to sign a form confirming that last Friday they had notified me that Dad's Medicare coverage was going to end on Monday.

The Chaplaincy from the hospital where Dad died just called. They asked how we were doing, and if we had any questions or if there was anything they could do for us. Which was very kind. but
