1/ Snowblowed 1,000 feet of driveway today. I've had the PTO shear bin break before. I've had the augur shear pin break before. I have never had the auger chain jump off the sprocket before; that was new.

2/ Had never really looked at the chain drive before, other than quickly to grease it once or twice a season. Turns out that there's an idler sprocket / pulley (bc of course there is; you'd need something like that in a design like this to (a) allow installation of chain, and

3/ (b) to take up slack as the chain stretches. So, loosened the nut, used a mallet to slide the axle that the sprocket rides up up 2", remounted chain, tapped back down w mallet and ...it went a good 1.5" past the old location. Chain has stretched a lot in 8 years!

Might be a good idea to have a spare chain on hand, maybe an idler too.
