one of my favorite things to do with the baby is join her in her examination of something new trying to see it through her eyes, paying close attention to the features she seems interested in, showing her an unintuitive or exciting way to interact with it

it's very hard to do this if I'm not fully present if I'm waiting for an opportunity to do something else if I'm trying to get her to behave differently if I'm feeling guarded or defensive gotta drop all of that to drop into her world

learning to coat-check all of my other concerns temporarily feels like a good skill to have spooky sometimes since I have this fear of forgetting anything that isn't on my mind at that very second
