I concluded a few years ago that "we" is the worst word in English. 95% of the time it is used to illegitimately smuggle false conclusions into your brain. I always assume (political) sentences containing "we" are false and malicious until proven otherwise.

“We need to” of course is invariably to be followed by something which “we” do not need to do and almost certainly shouldn’t do
