1/ short thread this reminds me of a detail in a book (perhaps The Psychology of Everyday Things, now renamed to The Design of...) where we had office garbage cans, we didn't put sticky things in them, we added liners, we DID put sticky things in, but staff reuses the liner >>https://twitter.com/kendrictonn/status/1477706199739027456 …

I remember hearing they had to walk back some safety tech on airplanes because if a pilot feels too safe, he will fly more recklessly whether he intends to or not. But I'm not super sure of this memory.
-
I believe this purely because I drive more recklessly on a car with more safety features.

You see this in video game development. Because you can update the game at any time, there’s very little incentive to finish the game for day of release. Everything is “day 1” including major pieces of content and fixing game breaking bugs.

I just ran into a situation like this with a kids bday party. The mother sent an email with important information an hour before the party! (Bring item X). I guarantee 90% of the guests did not get the message...
-
Interesting only to me perhaps but this also is an illustration of a difference in the anglo/non anglo populations in my community. If I planned a party and sent out important info the morning of, I would have three generations of ancestors screaming at me in my head...

I will say that it is a definite improvement on setting the plans, and then the other party or parties don't arrive for half an hour, and all you can do is wonder which of myriad reasons caused a no-show. Nowadays if people no-show you can assume you're being ghosted.
