I don't have an opinion yet, but the implementability seems wildly difficult (requires a competent govt for one). But the theory is specific because we seem to be specifically moving from "land as investment" to not because of productivity reasons.

yeah not super surprising that Georgism is popular among urban types who don’t have a huge sense of “ownership” over even land they “own” & not among rural people who have much stronger sense of land ownership in general.

you could probably cobble together a bastard policy of georgist land rent taxes in urban zoning and less in rural zones?
