There is definitely something displeasingly dystopian about getting told "you do not meet our criteria and we do not want you as a customer" and then getting a cheery automatic followup email saying "we hope you were delighted with our support! Please fill out this survey!"

It's actually happened a few times in the past several weeks, all financial sector companies. My guess is that it has to do with automated fraud prevention systems tagging me in error because my footprint is unusual.
