I always assumed it was meant more for younger children, not the same audience as The Lord of the Rings. That said I think Magicians Nephew is the best of the bunch, from the standpoint of an enjoyable fantasy story.

There’s a couple good sequences in Dawn Treader, which is otherwise… uneven. LWW and Horse and His Boy are the only two that hold up reasonably well in their entireties. The less spoken of the rest, the better.
