9/ If I used walnut (pricey!) to execute the same exact design, it would indicate that my perception was flawed. You see people using expensive wood and then using mediocre finishes, or mediocre design (bad or no shadowlines, etc) & you realize that they have no aesthetic sense

A significant part of my love of thinkpads is because (think of your favourite model here, I'm aware of variability) I appreciate their use of materials according to necessity of purpose. Black plastic is quite sufficient for most things, titanium composite screenback worthwhile.
