1/ well, first of all, ghost writers ARE a thing ... and for ego reasons, they're often uncredited. I know of several Big Name SF authors who have said "oh, yeah, I wrote 98% of a book for a guy who wanted to 'have written a book' " I suspect the big reason there's not more >https://twitter.com/drethelin/status/1455903200293359621 …

2/ is that a novel is, with zero disrespect to painters and artists, a much bigger piece of work / time commitment than a painting. short story or novella = framed painting novel = chapel ceiling

3/ I'm gonna make up a number and declare that maybe artists work for $50/hr, and so you can commission a 1-hr JPG character drawing for $50 or a framed oil painting still life for $1,500 far fewer in the market for the latter than for the former >

4/ ...and I would ABSOLUTELY ghost write a novel for someone, at the right price point ... but I doubt I could do it in < 1,000 hours, and I'd charge more per hour (bc opportunity cost for software engineering work). Who wants to buy a novel for $100k? Beuller? Beulller?
