Just took a walk w wife through the pastures, picked up downed sticks and chucked them into the forest, basked in the glowing fall colors, appreciated all the hard work and progress of the last 8 years, daydreamed about the results of the next 20. Good day on the farm, frens.

2/ plan for this winter: drop a crap ton of trees to clean up verges of pastures that have gotten overgrown over last 30 years. (Would be nice if I drop enough to heat the house through the winter with nothing but wood).pic.twitter.com/y9oX4JpPcC

3/ Once the verges are cleaned up, in a year ... or two ... or three ... I can fence in another pasture, which will give me more options for rotating sheep across pastures optimally.pic.twitter.com/DXsaEp8AFz

4/ One thing I inspected today was "future cider orchard" which was absolutely SMOTHERED in Japanese knotweed when we got the farm 8 years ago. Now almost absolutely nothing but grass. Need to hire in a bulldozer for a day to contour, then plant apple varietals for hard cider.pic.twitter.com/PW6Vslqttv

5/ Some of the trees I'll drop this winter will clear a ramp / dirt road area here, connecting "cross pasture" with the Future Cider Orchardpic.twitter.com/ruQjiWldZF

ⓘ Dogs don't have thumbs @MorlockP1/ I was out digging up knotweed root with a pick and shovel yesterday and I was thinking about this ... specifically the line segment E -F : "...and crossing a wood road". No road there, wood or otherwise. https://twitter.com/MorlockP/status/1255915812709335041 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 15 likesShow this thread -

ⓘ Dogs don't have thumbs @MorlockP2/ in fact, there are a bunch of trees, maybe around 20-30 years old. but here's a survey of the northern section, that also shows the jog ... and you can see that there are dirt roads shown. I've added in what I presume was the old "wood road" in red pic.twitter.com/r1ltv6eggDShow this thread1 reply 0 retweets 13 likesShow this thread -

ⓘ Dogs don't have thumbs @MorlockP3/ so while I was out this weekend, between pick-and-shovel sessions, I took a few breaks, and scouted the path of the now-gone "wood road"... and dang if the contour isn't still there! In fact, it would make a delightful little path from New Cider Orchard up to cross pasture pic.twitter.com/dQ2ecj8mX7Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 12 likesShow this thread -

10/ Here's his illegal structure, located 32' from the road and 18' from my property line, when the zoning code says, and has said for 35 years 50' from road and 25' from property line.pic.twitter.com/PUO3fCfPZg
