2/ avoiding strong opinions is, in general, good, and it's what I strive for I suggest that the above protocol is reasonable and polite (two good goals) for 99% of cases ... even when epistemically uncertain about Big Culture War Topicshttps://twitter.com/stephengracin/status/1454068866850697220 …

3/ I guess I've got one strong opinion in this realm: people who change pronouns daily, or want to have a beard and yet be called "she", are drama queens and attention whores first and foremost, and they deserve to have their dictates ignored.

4/ it's true that Successor Ideology is less about ideology qua ideology than it is about overproduced elites trying to parasitize productive people under the guide of an ideology... ...and likewise, I think that 90% of current year LGBT politics is not about LGBT but >>>

6/ Skin in the game / expensive signalling matters. A woman who sleeps with other women can claim a lesbian identity. A special forces guy with two tours in AF can have strong opinions about pistolcraft and ammunition selection. Etc.

I've generally avoided having strong opinions about the transgender issue, but this aspect of it does annoy me. It's just rude to force people to jump through hoops to know how they should address you.
-
It's not even about addressing them. They are claiming a right to determine how you speak *of* them.
