7/ One plausible defense of NASA etc was "in 1960 no private contractor could do this, so the gov does it for <mumble> reasons that have positive externalities" now that SpaceX is doing it... NASA plz GTFO

I could see JPL surviving the transition, because they're focused on collecting the data. Likely Goddard, for the same reason. Most other NASA centers are going to be obsolete and too sclerotic to adapt.
