last time I did it, tho, I sank in deep enough that the fuel filter housing sheared off ... so this time as soon as I started sinking I hopped off and dug a hole under the fuel filter !

I've done similar with a sedan on forest roads before. One time it was over 24 hours from when I got stuck to when I was out. I dug a small drainage ditch and jacked it up wheel by wheel shoveling sand and gravel in until I had built a nice short stretch of road under the wheels.
