@eigenrobot was just poasting about "high decoupler" and I went to google the term (turns out it means something like "can you debate an idea based on a premise WITHOUT agreeing that the premise is true?" ; decoupling the intellectual debate from the need to agree w an axiom)

3/ and what a delicious example of the problem: "person X claims that they're playing around with ideas but THOSE IDEAS ARE TOXIC AND BAD AND OUTGROUP therefore the person thinking about the implications of those ideas is TOXIC AND BAD AND OUTGROUP". Well done, Pharnygula

There's a distinction to be made between psychological inflexibility and high decoupling/focus. Being helplessly captured by bad ideas that produce suffering for yourself and others is different than the focus that accompanies a clear and levelheaded engagement with ideas.
