It's not as hominem to call someone an "author." I have a professional author in my family. It's just simply ridiculous to try to convince you to hold a position that is against your economic well-being. Same applies to me. It's just how the human brain works. No shame in it.

I didn't say a garbage man couldn't hold your ideas about copyright, but there's no way your average garbage man is going to defend copyright so passionately. If you don't think all of our politics are heavily influenced by our material circumstances...well, that's optimism.

If authors can’t make legitimate arguments b/c they benefit from copyright, would that not mean that anyone who stands to benefit from changing copyright/IP laws (supposedly everybody) can’t either?
