My fundamental issue with IP is that there's no metaphysical nature behind it. I'm at least open to the idea that the gov can impose it as a positive civil law, for the sake of encouraging innovation or whatever, but "IP theft" is obviously nonsense.

I'm not proposing an alternative. I'm presenting a metaphor that applies to all types of IP. If it fits less well for some types of IP, it's not entirely without value. This metaphor is especially on-point for our awful copyright regime.

If the monopolists get to invent the vague term "intellectual property" and blur together the Beatles with N. Tesla, than I get to blur those categories too. Turnabout is fair play.
