Hard disagree, because IP is seeking a monopoly on a contribution. It may not be rent-seeking but its not itself seeking wealth itself, that would be marketing your contribution, its seeking a monopoly privilege.

Except isn't a huge amount of profitable IP held by estates and third parties? That's pure rent seeking. Creating profitable IP is so difficult, I guarantee few artists think, "I gotta create for my grandchildren." They are pouring their sweat for an immediate payday.
