I kinda want to get back to my thesis on industrial life because I'm full grug/shmittian on politics. I've ben industrial or industrial adjacent forever. There is literally no way to make it not suck outside shorter hours. It's hard, you get tired then you hurt yourself.

There's an interaction between Hours worked/effort, pay, and cost of living. The issue is that currently the pay side of the triangle has been compressed to fuck by corporate pressure.

The only time that this wasn't the case is during the post war times when sombody realized that if you keep fucking with the trained/experienced soldiers they might just fuck with you so they let off the pressure for a generation. Now it's back

ehhhh the fact that Europe's industrial base was destroyed and there was no competition was what allowed for massive wave hikes and other benefits to labor now China is part of global trade, so there's insane downward competition for labor

Boomers came to age in world where there weren't enough jobs for their cohort, and the industry had largely just recovered from being converted for total war. So, they made a lot of new industries on war tech, but didn't do mentoring or building for the future, as it was all new.

Boomers did absolute shit tons of mentoring, and built a huge economy there is absolutely no basis for your claims

Yeah this one I don't get. I'm old enough to have been mentored by boomers. And they do have a massive Institutional knowledge base to pass on. New technology and plant will make some irrelevant, but I have knowledge that has been superceded in my working life already

I believe it's a milage may vary by industry thing here. There are absolutely great boomers who tend those that will follow as a good gardener tends his garden. But I also see those who kick the ladder down behind them and salt the earth for those who follow.

in general it is much easier for folks to achieve success now, post-Boomers, than it was before them

Absolutely! They created many new paths to success, and built many amazing things. They also made new problems for us to resolve. I used to be blame the boomers, but I'm neutral/positive now. There's a lot that is a product of the times, and is something true for all generations
