also, while I tend to agree w the main thrust of the essay, I dislike the format of argument-by-birds-of-a-feather, or "you know who ELSE was a vegetarian?"

LOL and fair enough. I dislike that kind of argument a lot (ages ago when I aspired to write a textbook on modern fallacies, that one was on the list).
